Cookie policy
Version 3.0 · Effective 24 September 2026 · PECR, UK GDPR and Data (Use and Access) Act 2025
This policy explains how Foundium uses cookies and similar technologies across our websites and technology platform, and how you can control them. Every technology that is not strictly necessary remains off until you choose to turn it on.
1. About this policy
This policy applies to the websites, platform and applications operated by Foundium, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (“Foundium”, “we”, “us” or “our”), together our “Services”.
It should be read together with our privacy policy, which explains how we process any personal data collected through these technologies and the rights you have in relation to it.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website or application places on your device when you use it. They allow a service to recognise your device, keep you signed in, remember your preferences and understand how the service is used.
Similar technologies work in comparable ways. They include local storage and session storage in your browser, which hold information on your device, and software development kits within applications. In this policy, “cookies” refers to all of these technologies unless we say otherwise.
Cookies set by the service you are visiting are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another organisation are third-party cookies. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
3. Our approach
- We use cookies only where they serve a clear purpose, and we keep their number and duration to the minimum that purpose requires.
- We ask for your consent before using any cookie that is not strictly necessary, including where the law might allow us to rely on an exemption.
- We use no advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, fingerprinting or social media tracking, and we do not allow third parties to place such technologies through our Services.
- We do not share cookie data with advertisers or data brokers.
4. Legal basis
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, information may be stored on or accessed from your device without consent only where it is strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested, or where another specific exemption applies. For all other purposes, we obtain your consent.
Where cookies involve the processing of personal data, our lawful basis under the UK GDPR is your consent for functional and analytics cookies. For strictly necessary cookies, it is the performance of our contract with you, or our legitimate interest in providing secure and functioning Services.
5. Categories of cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These cookies are essential for the Services to work. They enable core functions such as signing in, maintaining a secure session, protecting against fraud and cross-site request forgery, processing payments and remembering your cookie choices. They do not require consent and cannot be switched off, although you can block them in your browser, in which case parts of the Services will not work.
Functional
These cookies remember choices you make, such as interface settings and preferences, so that you do not need to set them again on each visit. They are used only with your consent.
Analytics
These cookies help us understand how the Services are used, for example which features are used most and where people encounter difficulties, so that we can improve them. The information is collected and reported in aggregate, is used only by Foundium, and is never used for advertising. They are used only with your consent.
6. Cookies we use
The public pages of our websites set no cookies until you save a choice on this page. The table below lists the cookies used by our Services.
| Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| fd_session | Foundium | Strictly necessary | Maintains your signed-in session | 30 days |
| fd_csrf | Foundium | Strictly necessary | Protects against cross-site request forgery | Session |
| fd_cookie_consent | Foundium | Strictly necessary | Records your cookie choices | 12 months |
| pay_* | Payment provider | Strictly necessary | Secures payments and prevents fraud | Session |
| fd_prefs | Foundium | Functional | Remembers your settings and preferences | 12 months |
| fd_analytics | Foundium | Analytics | Measures use of the Services in aggregate | 6 months |
We review this list whenever our Services change, and at least once a year.
7. Third-party cookies
When you make a payment through the Services, our payment provider may set strictly necessary cookies to process the transaction securely and prevent fraud. Those cookies are governed by the payment provider’s own cookie and privacy notices.
If you connect a third-party service, or follow a link to another website, that provider may set its own cookies, which are governed by its own policies. We do not control those cookies.
8. Emails
We do not use tracking pixels or similar technologies in our emails to monitor whether or when you open them.
9. Managing your preferences
You can switch each category of optional cookie on or off and save your choice below. Your choice is stored in the fd_cookie_consent cookie on this device and browser and takes effect immediately.
Required to sign in, keep the Services secure, process payments and remember the choices you make here. Always active.
Remember your settings and preferences between visits.
Help us understand, in aggregate, how the Services are used so that we can improve them.
If you withdraw consent, we stop using cookies in that category and delete those we have set where your browser allows. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.
10. Browser and device controls
Most browsers allow you to view, delete and block cookies, and to clear local storage, through their settings. The help pages for your browser explain how. If you block or delete strictly necessary cookies, you may be unable to sign in or complete payments.
Your choices apply only to the browser and device on which you make them. If you use another device or browser, or clear your cookies, you will need to set your preferences again.
11. Consent records
Your cookie choices are kept for 12 months, after which we ask you again. Where we record consent against your account, we keep that record for as long as the consent applies and for six years afterwards, so that we can demonstrate when and how consent was given.
12. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when we change the cookies we use or when the law changes. If we introduce a new category of optional cookie, we will ask for your consent before using it. The version number and effective date at the top of this page show when it was last updated.
13. Contact
If you have questions about our use of cookies, please contact us through the contact page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
